O, those wounded sticker victims!
I just noticed in CenterLine, the leaflet the Ontario Ministry of Transportation encloses with the automobile license renewal form that, "The fine for driving with an expired validation sticker is $90 (plus $20 victim surcharge)." I wonder if this victim group assembles regularly to discuss their trauma:
MIKE: Go on, Steve. It's okay. You're among friends.
STEVE (softly): Oh god but it was already March.
MIKE: Shhh. Just tell us what happened.
STEVE (with rising agitation): You just don't get it. It was already March. March! And I saw...I saw...her license plate had a...oh god do I have to say it? A February sticker! Nooooooo!
Steve pulls hair, wails, shudders, as the other victims nod sympathetically.
